Leslie Mistry

Leslie has been practicing Kathak dance for more than 15 years guided by her teacher Guruji Sushma Mehta who transmitted to her Kathak from the schools of Lucknow and Jaipur.

Dancer for the Brixton Temple for over 10 years, for the Hindus of the Caribbean Association and for the Shamaa dance company in London. She created the Dancing India association in Thyez in 2013 to spread Indian dance and culture in our region.

Leslie has a diploma in Kathak dance from the teachers’ academy of the Imperial Society of Dance in England. www.istd.org/discover/

She continues to learn rhythm and tabla with the famous tabla player Hiren Chate since 2020. Kathak punctuates his life thanks to the dedication, discipline and devotion that this art requires.
